Sooraj Barjatya’s Shocking Confession: The Man Who Made Tuffy Iconic Is Actually Scared of Animals!
Sooraj R. Barjatya, renowned for his family-centric films, is making his foray into the OTT world with Bada Naam Karenge. In a nostalgic moment, he reflected on his iconic film Hum Aapke Hain Koun, which introduced one of Indian cinema’s most beloved pets—Tuffy the dog. However, in a surprising revelation, the filmmaker admitted that despite his love for animals as seen in his films, he is actually scared of animals!
During the promotion of Bada Naam Karenge on Indian Idol, contestant Manushi asked Barjatya about his apparent love for animals in his films. In response, Barjatya shared an unexpected behind-the-scenes story, stating, “Animals are just as important as humans, but I get scared around them.” He further revealed that during the making of Hum Aapke Hain Koun, they had two dogs playing Tuffy—one for the morning shoots and another for the evening. He also shared that in Hum Saath Saath Hain, while filming an elephant scene, he kept his distance from the animal, too nervous to be near it while the actors filmed.
Despite his personal fears, Barjatya’s incredible storytelling made Tuffy one of the most memorable characters in Indian cinema, showcasing how his creative vision surpassed his own anxieties. As Bada Naam Karenge gears up for its premiere on February 7th on Sony LIV, fans are eagerly awaiting to see what new magic the legendary filmmaker will bring to the screen, proving that his talent transcends even his personal limitations.
