Situation deteriorated in 12 districts of Haryana: 854 villages submerged, 2 dead bodies found in Kurukshetra and Kaithal, woman died in Karnal

Haryana:Out of 750 schools in Ambala, 430 schools and 203 government schools in Kurukshetra are waterlogged. For this reason the schools will remain closed till Sunday. There was a holiday on Thursday in the schools of Yamuna Nagar as well. Flood-affected schools in Karnal, Panipat and Kaithal have been kept closed for the time being.
At present, even on the fourth day, no major relief could be found due to floods in Haryana. On Thursday, flood water also reached the fields of Fatehabad and Sirsa. With this, the number of flood-affected districts has increased to 12 in the state. There is water in 914 villages of these districts. Although the government is accepting the flood in 854 villages, people are imprisoned in their homes and their problems are increasing due to lack of electricity and food items. So far 3674 people have been rescued from these affected places by the teams of Army and NDRF.

On the other hand, the water level of other rivers including Markanda, Ghaggar, Saraswati is also increasing rapidly. Although the water level of Yamuna has come down a bit. The worst condition is of GT belt. About 585 villages in the six districts of this belt, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Kaithal, Kurukshetra and Panipat are badly affected by the floods. The contact of these villages with the district headquarters has been cut off, while more than four lakh acres of crops have been submerged. The condition of Kaithal, Kurukshetra is worse than before. Sangrur was also cut off from Kaithal due to the collapse of the bridge at Khanauri in Punjab. It has already been cut off from Ambala and Patiala. The water of the Ghaggar river filled the city of Cheeka.

In Kurukshetra the water of Markanda river has reached from Shahabad to Kurukshetra. The broken Narwana branch near village Thol and the damaged drain near village Dabkhedi could not be repaired even after three days. Due to this, the city’s contact with Pehova has also been lost. Water reached the third gate of Kurukshetra University. Seeing the rising water, people have started migrating from the colonies. The Karnal-Gangoh road in Karnal remained closed for the fifth day. Due to increase in water in Hathini Kund barrage of Yamuna Nagar, danger is looming in the villages. The road of Ganga Expressway has sunk about 40 feet near the toll.
NDRF and Army teams are engaged in rescue operations in Panipat, Ambala, Fatehabad, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra and Kaithal. In Ambala, the Air Force delivered relief material to seven villages on Thursday. In Palwal district too, more than 24 villages have been flooded. Bodies of two people were found on Thursday, while a woman died and a person was washed away in Karnal.

So far 21 people have died in the state. In Faridabad, SDRF rescued 1300 people from nearby areas including Basantpur and took them to camps set up in Agwanpur and Ismailpur village schools. People heaved a sigh of relief as the water level of Yamuna decreased in Panipat. However, it is still near the danger mark. The danger mark of Yamuna is 231.50 metres. Currently flowing at 230.80 meters. With this, the work of closing the Tamshabad cut has started.
