I am alive: Aadhaar is no longer necessary to prove pensionersIt will no longer be mandatory for pensioners to show their Aadhaar card to prove their existence. The central government has exempted this obligation in the new rules. The messaging solution ‘Sandesh’ and the biometrics attendance system of government offices have also removed the imperative of Aadhaar number.Earlier, verification was mandatory for these services under the Aadhaar Authentication Rules-2020 for Good Governance. According to the notification issued by the Union Ministry of Information Technology and Electronics, Aadhaar verification in the life proof will be voluntary, not mandatory.Companies have to provide options for a life certificate. The National Information Center (NIC) will have to follow the Aadhaar Act 2016, Aadhaar Regulation 2016 and UIDAI’s Office Memorandum, Circulars and Guidelines. Similarly, the ministry has also abolished Aadhaar verification for the Sandesh app. NIC had developed this app under the Government Instant Messaging System Project, which is being used in government departments.The concept of the app has been confirmed by 150 organizations including NITI Aayog, CBI, Ministry of Information Technology and Electronics, CBI, Railways, Army, Navy, National Security Council Secretariat, Intelligence Bureau, BSF, CRPF, Department of Telecommunications and Ministry of Home Affairs. The government also wants to make the app available to the general public. The requirement of Aadhaar has also been removed for biometrics attendance system.
