Community Health Center Falls Short: Mahila Ekta Manch Demands Essential Equipment and Staff
Ramnagar: The Mahila Ekta Manch submitted a memorandum to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Bailpadav, demanding the appointment of doctors and paramedical staff for vacant positions at the Maldhan Community Health Center, along with the availability of essential equipment like surgical tools, X-ray, and ultrasound machines.
The memorandum highlighted that Maldhan, with a population of over 40,000, relies on this single community health center for medical treatment. However, due to a lack of basic facilities, the local population is not able to benefit from it. The Mahila Ekta Manch pointed out that the health center should provide operations, ultrasound services, and 24-hour emergency facilities as per the established norms. In addition, pediatricians, surgeons, anesthetists, and facilities for childbirth and emergency services should be available as per regulations.
Bhagwati, a representative, emphasized that medicines should also be provided at the hospital for patients. She added that people often have to travel to cities for minor ailments and deliveries, leading to delays in treatment and even fatalities on the way. Following protests, some pathology tests were started at the Maladhan hospital, and five medical assistants and two doctors were appointed. However, the 24-hour emergency and surgical facilities are still not available, prompting the Mahila Ekta Manch to consider resuming protests.
Vinita, another representative, mentioned that several complaints had been lodged on the Chief Minister’s portal by the public, but the BJP government remains indifferent to addressing the healthcare needs. The Mahila Ekta Manch has warned that unless the Maldhan Community Health Center meets the required standards and provides the necessary facilities, the public’s movement will continue. The memorandum was submitted by Mamta, Bhagwati, Vinita, Saraswati Joshi, Kaushalya Chuniyaal, Pushpa, and others.
