Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif recently stated that Pakistan violated the pact with India in 1999. Pakistan has now declared that occupied Kashmir (POK), also known as Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), is a foreign land. It is wonderful news for India that Pakistan has agreed that POK is not part of its territory. Many Pakistanis are astonished by this incidence. A government lawyer made a stunning allegation in the Islamabad High Court, claiming that POK is a foreign territory. For two weeks, a hearing was held to investigate the disappearance of poet and journalist Ahmed Farhad Shah from POK. Later, it was discovered that he was in police custody.
Pay close attention to the words spoken in court. Pakistan has not stated that POK and Kashmir are separate countries. Rather, it stated that POK is a foreign territory. This means that it considers Kashmir not independent but rather a part of another country. Even if indirectly, Pakistan appears to feel that Jammu and Kashmir is an important part of India, and it has forcibly occupied one of its territories. The people of Pakistan are plainly frustrated right now.
Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir is outraged by the government’s statement in the High Court. He tweeted, ‘Pakistan portrays AJK in a very unfavorable light. They abducted a poet from Islamabad. They lack the moral courage to acknowledge the kidnapping, and they have now demonstrated his arrest in AJK and portrayed it as a foreign territory at the Islamabad High Court. This means that while the invading army has jurisdiction in AJK, Pakistani courts do not.
In a video, he stated: “The Pakistani government admitted in court today that AJK is a foreign land.” Then explain why the Rangers went there, and when the Prime Minister of AJK claims that I did not summon the Rangers, who gave them permission to go. Pakistan has shifted the focus of the Kashmir issue by referring to it as a foreign territory.
PoK is a vital part of India. Pakistan has taken over its area, known as Azad Kashmir. On Friday, the Federal Prosecutor General in the Islamabad High Court informed the court that Ahmed Farhad is on detention in Azad Kashmir till June 2. He cannot be brought before the Islamabad court because AJK is a foreign territory. The court was likewise shocked by the lawyer’s reasoning. The judge inquired as to how the Pakistani Army and Rangers arrived in AJK from Pakistan, given that it is a foreign territory. This statement has caused an outcry on Pakistani social media. A user commented, ‘It’s terribly unfortunate. They now openly support India.
