Heavy rain alert in seven districts including Dehradun
Dehradun: This time the arrival of monsoon in Uttarakhand has been delayed by seven days. However, in the last two days, there has been some respite from the heat due to pre-monsoon rains in the hilly districts and plains across the state. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rain in seven districts of the state including Dehradun on Friday.
Orange alert of heavy rain was issued by the Meteorological Center in Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Nainital and Bageshwar districts. There are chances of light rain in other districts also. Meteorologists say that monsoon will enter Uttarakhand with rains on June 28 and 29. After this, there is a possibility of several rounds of heavy rain across the state on June 30 and July 1 also.
Meteorologists say that due to changed weather patterns and climate change, pre-monsoon rainfall has decreased. This is the reason why record breaking heat has been recorded several times in May-June.
Uttarakhand has received 60 percent less pre-monsoon rainfall so far in June. If we look at the figures, there has been negligible rainfall in Haridwar. Whereas, maximum rainfall occurred in Bageshwar district. There was 122 mm rainfall till June 27, which is only five percent less than normal. Talking about Dehradun, here too there was 32 percent less rainfall than normal. Similar situation remained in other districts of the state also. In any district the rainfall did not even touch the normal figures.
This time there has been a delay of seven days in the arrival of monsoon in Uttarakhand. There are chances of heavy rain in some districts on 28th and 29th June. After rain on both the days, monsoon will fully enter the state. There are chances of heavy rains in all the districts in July.
