Kejriwal gets bail in Delhi liquor policy case, but will not come out of jail
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has given a big decision on the petition challenging the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the ED. The court has granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal. With this, the court has sent the case to a larger bench i.e. a bench of three judges. Even though Kejriwal has been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court, however, he will not be able to come out of jail right now. This is because the CBI has arrested him in this case. CM Kejriwal will have to remain in jail until he gets bail in the CBI arrest case.
Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyers said that the Delhi CM has got interim bail till the larger bench hears the case. The court examined section 19, the court decided whether arrest is needed in this case. The court has said that Kejriwal has already been in jail for a long time, so he will be released immediately in the ED case. Since the CBI has arrested him in a different case, the hearing in this case is on July 17 in the High Court, Kejriwal will be released from jail only when a decision comes in that case.
The Supreme Court gave its verdict on Friday and granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal. In view of the legal issues on PMLA, the matter was sent to a larger bench.
