The tourist destination Nathatop also received the first snowfall of the season on Monday afternoon. On Monday morning in the midst of clear weather, cold winds continued to blow with sunshine. Snowfall occurred in the mountainous areas in the afternoon, after which a white sheet was laid in Nathatop.
A white sheet of snow has spread in the valleys of Kashmir. The atmosphere is pleasant. Due to this the pace of normal life has cooled down, but the tourism world has come warm. After the snowfall on Saturday evening and Sunday, the tourist places were buzzing with tourists when the weather remained clear on Monday.
Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Gurez, Sadhna Top, Rajdhan Pass, Machhil, Bandipora, Kupwara, uplands of Baramulla, Pahalgam, Mughal Road, Sinthan Top, Zojila Pass, etc. have been covered with a white blanket of snow. In many areas one foot and in some 5.6 inches of snowfall has been recorded.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there was improvement in the weather in the valley on Monday. Since morning almost all the districts were sunny and the weather opened up completely. An official said that the weather will remain clear on Tuesday, due to which the mercury is likely to drop significantly below zero due to clear night sky, cold wave will intensify. It was told that on December 8 and 9, there is a possibility of light snowfall in the hilly areas of the valley, while there is a possibility of rain in the plains. After this, the weather is likely to remain mostly clear for 10 days.
