Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur unveils trophy for Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2023
Chandigarh news: India has got the hosting of the Asian Championship Trophy 2023 for the first time. Its matches are to be played in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from 3 to 12 August. The Hero Asian Championship trophy is being taken to different corners of the country. The trophy reached a private hotel in Sector-17 on Thursday. It was welcomed by Hockey Chandigarh President Karan Gilhotra, Secretary Anil Vohra along with Olympian Gagan Ajit Singh and others. During this Chandigarh Administrator and Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit was the chief guest. Junior National Hockey silver medal winning team of Chandigarh was present on this occasion, which was also honored.A matter of pride for sports and players.
Administrator Banwarilal Purohit said that India getting to host the Asian Hockey Championship is a matter of pride for hockey and people associated with the game. These days this trophy is being taken to different cities of the country. Wherever this trophy goes, the people there will be inspired towards the game of hockey. He said that hockey is the only game in the country which has won eight medals in the Olympics. He said that the player who enters the field, He leaves the different religions and comes on the field only as a player. The Government of India is paying more attention to the diet and fitness of the players. Young talents from all over the country are coming to the fore through Khelo India.
