Estimated Trade of 4.25 Lakh Crore Rupees for Diwali This Year

Chinese Goods Absent – Increased Push for Vocal for Local

Markets across the country have completed extensive preparations for Diwali and related festivals to attract as many customers as possible and boost business. Given the strong sales witnessed during Raksha Bandhan, Navratri, and Karva Chauth, traders are expecting a total trade of 4.25 lakh crore rupees this Diwali season, with Delhi alone estimated to reach around 75 thousand crore rupees.

Praveen Khandelwal, Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk and National General Secretary of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), along with National Secretary Harish Garg, announced that preparations in Delhi, Chandigarh, and other major markets nationwide are in full swing for the festival season.

Harishankar Mishra, Vice President of CAIT Chandigarh Chapter, along with Prem Kaushik, Pawan Garg, and Baldev Goyal, shared that shops across major cities, tier 2 and tier 3 cities, towns, and villages will be decorated with Diwali themes. Special focus is being placed on colorful lights, rangoli, and other decorations to create a festive atmosphere and draw more people to the markets.

CAIT National Secretary Harish Garg and Chandigarh Chapter President Harish Garg noted that traders, anticipating high demand during the season, have already begun stocking up on various items such as gift items, clothing, jewelry, electronics, mobiles, furnishings, decorations, puja materials, rangoli, idols and pictures of deities, ready-made garments, toys, food items, confectionery, electrical goods, consumer durables, and more.

Bhim Sen, General Secretary of CAIT Chandigarh Chapter, along with Ajay Singla, Abhay Jha, and Naresh Garg, jointly mentioned that various discounts and promotional offers are being considered to attract customers. Retailers may introduce schemes like ‘Buy One, Get One’ or Diwali discounts to entice shoppers.

Due to the high foot traffic during Diwali, requests are being made to the police and local administration for special security and traffic control measures. Additionally, trade associations are planning to deploy extra private security guards as well.

Harish Garg expressed confidence that markets across the country, including Chandigarh, are fully prepared for Diwali and are implementing new strategies to counter challenges from e-commerce, aiming for substantial business growth this festival season.
