Chandigarh: Chandigarh Chapter President Harish Garg said that today’s raids by ED on big e-commerce companies across the country prove that India is a strong democratic country, governed by law and constitution. No one can be allowed to violate these laws. Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and other trade organizations have raised these issues for the last few years. I welcome the action of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is a step in the right direction. Earlier, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) had also issued penalty notices to Amazon, Flipkart and their preferred sellers for indulging in anti-competitive activities against small traders and grocery stores.
CAIT’s Chandigarh chapter led by Vice President Prem Kaushik, Harishankar Mishra, Pawan Garg, Baldev Goyal, General Secretary Bhim Sen, Secretary Ajay Singla, Naresh Garg, and Abhay Jha said that in the new India led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, no one is above the law. I hope that now the law will do its rightful job and protect the livelihood of small shopkeepers. This government is committed to not allowing any entity to harm the business community. In response to the numerous complaints filed by the business community regarding violation of foreign investment rules and anti-competitive measures adopted by quick commerce companies such as Blinkit, Swiggy and Zepto, we appeal to CCI and ED to take swift action, so that the business of small traders can be saved from further irreparable damage.
