Today, on the third trading day of the week i.e. Wednesday, the stock market opened on the red mark. The Bombay Stock Exchange’s flagship index Sensex was down 302.03 points (0.60 per cent) at 49,749.41. The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was down 87.30 points, or 0.59 per cent, at 14,727.50. In early trade, 494 shares gained, 668 shares declined and 66 stocks remained unchanged.
Fall in global markets
Talking about global markets, Hong Kong’s Hangseng index slipped 595 points, or 2.09 percent, to 27,902. The Shanghai Composite of China is trading 38 points down at 3,373. Japan’s Nikkei index is trading at 28,452, falling 543 points. Korea’s Cospi index declined by 18 points, while Australia’s All Ordinaries rose by 25 points. Investors sold on the US stock markets looking at new tax and infra spending prospects. The Nasdaq index was up 1.12 percent at 13,277 points. The Dow Jones fell 308 points to close at 32,423.

The Sensex was down 174.81 points (0.35 per cent) at 49876.63 during the pre-open at 9.06 am. The Nifty was down 90.10 points (0.61 per cent) at 14724.70.

The stock market opened on the green mark on the previous trading day. The Sensex opened at 49922.79 with a gain of 151.50 points (0.30 per cent). At the same time, the Nifty opened at 14782.80, up 46.40 points, or 0.31 per cent.
