Navyug Ramlila and Dusshera committee is one of the most revered ramleela events in the city beautiful. This 38 years ramleela committee has many first in the pocket. Acting proficiency and larger than life image of “Ramayana” has played a vital role in making this “Ramlila” as the reigning king of all the ramleela in Chandigarh. This year, they have roped their youngest executive member “Shehzaad” who is Muslim by religion, for character Hanuman. While talking he said “I am absolutely comfortable while doing this role. I have spent almost 10 years and have played roles like Sugreev and Angad before debuting as Hanumana.”
In the horde of many characters, few men manage to play female roles. This ramleela showcases “Snehil Sharma” who is a renown theatre actor and a media professional himself, is playing Kaikai and Sharoopnakha. Who was meanwhile in the role of “Rati” said that “Actor’s job is to act, no matter if he or she is playing men’s or women’s role in such a way that people should find it realistic in all the ways“.
Govind Kumar who is the founding member of the committee said the ramleela is successful because of the grace of audience and we deliver what is real and can propagate the message to mankind.
