CGCJ Screen Film Festival 2022 held at Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjeri

CGC Jhanjeri organized “CGCJ Screen Film Festival 2022” under the Opera House Club in the presence of national award winning film director Mr. Ojaswwee Sharma. In this mega event, more than 120 students have participated.

Chandigarh group of Colleges, Jhanjeri is known for organizing larger than life events. This time CGC J Screen Film festival was organized to sharpen, sizzle and to sculpt the film making skills among students

A month ago, the Opera house club announced the film festival through social media to get college students’ entries to participate in the event. It went big when about 142 students registered in it, out of which many teams were formed. These teams then had chosen themes to make their films. Themes were related to hostel life, life at cgc jhanjeri, covid, humanity, friendship and other various social topics. The Students took 14 to 15 days and came up with fantastic films. A total of 9 films were selected to screen in the film festival. For this, College invited the critically acclaimed Documentary “Admitted” film director Ojaswwee Sharma as a Chief Guest as well as Jury. He is an National Award Winning Indian Film Director, Producer and Screenwriter. He is recipient of ‘Rajat Kamal’, Special Jury Award, for ‘Admitted’ from President of India at 68th National Film Awards by Government of India.

The Event presented a few cultural performances like classical dance, western dance and singing. Ojaswee talked to the CGC Jhanjeri students and further motivated them through his life experiences. While Fearless Defenders lead by Versha of BA LLB won the 1st prize, the Pacific the avengers lead by Prashant from B Tech CSE 3rd Semester won 2nd prize and The flames led by Raj Singh won the third prize in the CGC J Screen Film Festival.

S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said since CGC Jhanjeri seeks to recognize and celebrate students’ talent in a variety of ways and will keep on doing such events that boost students’ passion and self confidence.” While MD Arsh Dhaliwal adds that “Acting in front of Camera, handling the Camera, video editing skills, cinematography are altogether very technical yet artistic. Practicing them in a live environment and organizing such events sculpts and shapes them in the right direction. It was challenging but they got them with distinction. The students at the Opera club of the college said they were thrilled with the active participation and entries we’ve received. But now we feel we have done it successfully and will keep on doing such events regularly. We have many events coming along.
