Chandigarh: Kailash Chand Jain, President of Udyog Vyapar Mandal Chandigarh, has called the decision of the administration to open shops 24×7 in the city impractical and has demanded a reconsideration of this decision.
Kailash Chand Jain says that the decision of the administration to open shops 24 hours in the city can certainly be commendable but this decision is not in the interest of shopkeepers. This decision will increase the additional burden of work on shopkeepers, especially for small shopkeepers who work in their own shops, it will be difficult for them to open shops 24 hours, but seeing others opening shops 24×7 will become their compulsion.
Apart from this, the issue of security will also come up. Is the administration ready to allow shops to be opened 24 hours in the city markets as well as make arrangements for 24-hour security? First the administration should take care of security and other basic facilities and fulfill them, only then should this type of notification be brought. It seems that this decision has been taken keeping in mind only big malls. This decision does not seem right for small shopkeepers, so this decision should be reconsidered and before taking a decision, it should be necessary to hold a meeting of representatives of all the shopkeepers in all the markets and take their consent.
