Chandigarh, India. The Environment Society of India celebrated World Parrot Day along with the local residents and children at Sector 21 City Bird Sanctuary to set the pace in parrot conservation.
The members of the society and local residents of Sector 21 gathered at the bird sanctuary with Earthen Pots and Water for the parrots.
Teachers and Students of various schools like Vatika High School for Deaf and Dumb, Bhavan Vidyalaya, St. Anne’s Convent School, GMSSS 46, GMSSS 21, GMSSS 33, AKSIPS, St. Stephen’s School Joined with posters and banners. The specially-abled students of Vatika High School for Deaf and Dumb, Sector 19B expressed in sign language their joy in watching parrots and other birds in nature which was appreciated by everybody present.
Mr. N K Jhingan, the secretary of the society welcomed the guests and narrated the brief history of the Bird Sanctuary. He spoke about the importance of the conservation of Parrots for the environment.
Mr. Vijay Mehta represented The Senior Citizens Association of Chandigarh recalling his memory of the past. Forest guard, Mr. Ram Kumar accompanied the group inside the Sanctuary.
Some of the prominent dignitaries present in the celebration were Ms. Mohinder Kaur, Councillor Municipal Corporation, Dr. Ravinder Nath Treasurer ESI, and Ms. Preeti Kapany Jt. Secretary. ESI., Rajeev Kumar Principal Vatika High School for Deaf and Dumb, Mr S K Singla Principal Govt Model Sr. Sec School, Raipur Khurd, Vijay Pal Goel, Ms.Chandni Sharma, Mr. Rohan Singh Secretary youth wing, Mr. Anup Sarin, Mr. Hem Raj Satija, Snehil Sharma, Prabhu Nath Shahi, Yashpal Yadav.
