6-storey building collapses in Gujarat, 15 injured; many feared trapped

Surat: A major accident has happened in Surat, Gujarat due to the collapse of a 6-storey building amid continuous rain. According to the information, a 6-storey building collapsed in Sachin Pali area of Surat. Which had become dilapidated. According to the information, 15 people have been injured due to the collapse of the building. Immediately after the accident, fire brigade and police teams arrived. After which a rescue operation was carried out. There is a possibility of more people being buried under the debris.

It is being told that a woman is also included among the 15 injured. According to the police, 5 to 6 people are feared to be trapped in the debris. Along with removing the debris, efforts are being made to rescue the trapped people. People were living on rent in 35 rooms in this 6-storey building. The building had become very dilapidated. The owner of this building is said to be a foreign woman. She had hired a person to give rooms on rent.

According to eyewitnesses, it has been raining heavily in Surat for the last few days. Due to which this building located in Sachin GIDC area collapsed. The people around came to know about the building collapse from the explosion. People reached the spot and tried to rescue the people buried under the debris. The administration was also informed about the accident.

Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot said that fire brigade, NDRF, SDRF personnel reached the spot and started the rescue operation. The police have sealed the surrounding area. Some people came out at the time of the building collapse. At present, the work of removing the debris is going on at a fast pace. At the time of the incident, some people had gone out to work.

It is being told that this building was built in 2017-18 and it became dilapidated in just 6 years. Surat Municipal Corporation had also ordered the owner of the building to vacate it. Most of the families living in the building had also vacated the building and left. It has been learned that only 5 to 6 families lived in it. It has also been learned that the owner of the building lives abroad. The administration is removing the debris with JCB machine and cutter machine. It may take a lot of time. Only after this will it be known how many people are buried inside.
