Hisar footballer Himanshu Jangra has written the name of the city in golden letters by scoring two goals in the final match of South Asian Football Federation (SAIF) U-20 Cup held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Himanshu Jangra, the player of the gold medal winning team, told in a conversation with a media house on the phone that he started the game at the age of 9 by watching football matches on TV and today the result is in front of everyone because of the goal and hard work.
Saif Cup Under-20 Football Championship was organized at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, hosted by India. In which teams from the continent of Asia participated. The final match of the Saif Cup was played between India and Bangladesh. In which the Indian team won 5-2. The Indian team scored a total of 5 goals, out of which Himanshu Jangra, the footballer of Hisar, scored the third and fourth goals and turned the tide of the match and won the gold medal and the Saif Cup in the name of his team.
Footballer Jangra told that at the age of 12, Patiala’s Football Academy had refused to select him. He did not give up and continued to get support from Arjuna Awardee boxer Mandeep Jangra and family members. In 2021, the Guardian included him in the Next Generation Player. In which 60 players of the world were selected. In which he was the only Asian player. Which once included star footballers like Neymar, Ronaldo. Minerva Academy changed his career and today he is compared to the best striker of the country, Sunil Chhetri. While he is not in favor of this comparison. He wants people to know him because of his game. There was a time when he was turned down everywhere. He started the game at the age of 9 by watching football matches on TV and today the result is in front of everyone with the help of goal and hard work.
