Rishikesh: Illegal Casino Uncovered at Resort Owned by Prominent Epileptologist in Rishikesh; 37 Individuals Apprehended, Including Policeman
In a significant development, the Rishikesh police have exposed an illicit casino operating within the premises of the Neeraj Forest Resort, owned by the well-known epilepsy specialist, RK Gupta. The raid, conducted on Thursday night, resulted in the apprehension of 37 individuals, among them five women and a constable from the Rishikesh police station. Substantial evidence was seized, including more than Rs 5 lakh in cash, 3,993 casino chips, 37 mobile phones, and six bottles of liquor.
At the Lakshman Jhula police station in Pauri, formal charges have been filed against the resort’s owner, RK Gupta, manager Sahil Grover, front office manager Rahul Gupta, and Vishal from Delhi. Furthermore, the police have taken the step of sealing the wellness center located within the resort.SSP Pauri, Shweta Chaubey, stated that they had received information regarding the operation of illegal casinos at the Neeraj Forest Resort over the past two days. In response, a dedicated team led by ASP Kotdwar Jaya Baloni and CO Srinagar Ravindra Chamoli conducted the raid late on Thursday night, apprehending 37 individuals, including five women and a constable, who were actively involved in gambling. Besides the substantial cash haul, casino chips, decks of cards, mobile phones, and luxury vehicles were also confiscated from the premises.
It was revealed that those arrested hailed from Haridwar, Delhi, and Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. Furthermore, it was discovered that, in addition to gambling, liquor was also being served in the resort’s basement.
