In Chandigarh, there won’t be an e-auction of taxi stands

Taxi stand union showed gratitude to former BJP state president Arun Sood

Chandigarh: There will be no e-auction of taxi stands in Chandigarh, nor will these stands be granted a one-year extension. These taxi stands will now be provided for a five-year extension. Those with rental fronts will receive these for another five years. Along with this, a committee of councilors has been formed to develop a policy that considers the interests of the taxi stand’s customers. Arun Sood, former BJP state president and mayor, spearheaded all of this.

In fact, a delegation from the Chandigarh Taxi Association met with former BJP state president Arun Sood and informed him of the problem, which is that the Municipal Corporation has prepared a proposal for e-auction of taxi stands, and there is a provision to give these stands a one-year extension on payment of the full amount. This will impact their business.

Arun Sood discussed the topic with the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and apprised him of the entire situation. He stated that the Municipal Corporation has created an e-auction proposal, which will have an impact on taxi operators’ businesses because they operate in specific areas. If they win another bid in an e-auction, it will have an impact on their income. The Senior Deputy Mayor and BJP councilors were also made aware of the situation.

Following this, the BJP requested in the Municipal Corporation that, in order to protect taxi operators’ commercial interests, e-tendering be stopped and taxi operators who have paid the deposit be given the stands on rent for five years. Taxi stands that have been in operation for five years should be rented out for another five years. This proposition was approved unanimously in the House. The Chandigarh Taxi Association expressed gratitude to former BJP state president Arun Sood for providing significant relief to cab operators.

Arun Sood informed the Taxi Association that the BJP is always willing to fight for the interests of ordinary citizens. Avinash Singala, Sukhwinder Sukhi, Kaku, Vicky, Gulshan, Shravan, Vijay Pandit, Bobby, and other cab operators represented the Chandigarh Taxi Association at this event.
