Ghaziabad: New Year Celebrations Turn Violent, Raj Nagar District Center Witnesses Chaos
Despite Ghaziabad Police’s claims of taking strict measures to curb hooliganism and maintain peace during New Year celebrations, a violent incident at Raj Nagar District Center has raised serious questions about their preparedness.
A video that went viral shows a group of people openly engaging in a brawl outside a restaurant. The situation escalated to the extent that nearby parked vehicles were damaged. This incident has put a spotlight on the police’s ability to maintain law and order.
The police had earlier announced that they would conduct special checks at 26 locations to ensure peace during the New Year festivities. However, local residents claim that these checks were limited to issuing fines, with no real focus on maintaining public order.
Following the viral video, Ghaziabad Police took swift action and arrested three individuals involved in the violence. However, this incident contradicts their earlier statement that “not even a bird will be able to stir on New Year’s Eve.”
Residents expressed concern that such incidents not only disrupt peace but also tarnish the city’s image. They have urged the police to focus on increasing their presence at public places rather than just issuing fines.
This incident highlights that maintaining law and order cannot be achieved through mere claims and announcements. There is a need for the police to work at the ground level to prevent such incidents in the future.
