Shiromani Akali Dal candidate from Patiala Lok Sabha constituency N.K. Sharma has hit back at the statement of former Aam Aadmi Party MP and current Congress candidate Dharamveer Gandhi, saying that the person who has been absent from the Lok Sabha most of the time should be punished for the work done. There is no right to ask for votes .
N.K. Sharma was addressing public meetings in villages like Antala, Nagla, Ranimajra, Tasimbali, Ambachpa, Bijanpur, Samgauli etc. during the election campaign today. He said that Gandhi had appealed to vote on the basis of the work done last day, but the record of Lok Sabha shows that Gandhi’s attendance there is only 55 percent.
Gandhi remained an MP for five years and raised only 15 questions in the Lok Sabha.
NK Sharma said that Gandhi should come on the public platform and tell what issues related to farmers, employees and businessmen he has raised in the Lok Sabha during his five-year tenure.
Sharma said that the sessions of the Lok Sabha last long but Gandhi did not attend them. The people of Patiala sent him to the Lok Sabha and he did not go there. Sharma said that before seeking votes on the basis of work, it would have been better if Gandhi had introspected and looked at the working style of his own Lok Sabha MP during his tenure.
NK Sharma said during public meetings that the development of this border area of Laldu is the contribution of late Captain Kanwaljit Singh. He built bridges and roads here. Congress and now Aam Aadmi Party government that came to power after Akali Dal did not make any development project. The development here has been stalled for the last seven years. Deependra Singh Dhillon in the Congress government and now the Halka MLA in the AAP government did not do any work except looting.
Sharma appealed to the people of the area to vote on the basis of character, work and loyalty and said that they should send him to the Lok Sabha once, just as the development work was done here during the Akali Dal government, similarly he will get the benefit of the schemes of the Centre. . On this occasion, many dignitaries including Youth Akali leader Manjit Singh Malikpur, Ajaib Singh, Parminder Sarpanch Jaula, Randeep Singh Nagla, OP Sharma, Brijesh Rana, Gurvinder Singh Gindu, Taranbir Singh Timmy Poonia were present.
