A portest has been staged by the Tricity Consumer Courts Bar Association against Paramjit Singh Dhaliwal , President Justice (Retd) of Punjab State Consumer Commission, sector – 37. The association alleges that he had twice sent a demand letter to Justice Dhaliwal and demanded not to be heard on non-urgent matters. Justice Dhaliwal didn’t listen to their demand but issued adversary orders in the cases of those lawyers who signrd the demand letter instead.

The association has boycotted the bench of Justice Dhaliwal and had organised a sit – in on Thursday . While Justice Dhaliwal also sent a letter against the President and Secretary of the Association to the Chief Justice of India and the Bar Of Council of India . He has accused the presidents of the association for fighti cases of seceral builders and hanging the same very often .

The stringent issued by Justice Dhaliwal on 11 May, 2021 against them might be a reason for the association to bring out rage against the Principal Bench of the Commission. A meeting has been set between Justice Dhaliwal and Bar Association on Friday , after which a decision will be taken on the issue. Advocate Nitin Thathai confirmed that he had given a demand letter firt time on 3 May.

Following which on 10 May ,2021 he handed over the signed demand letter of 130 lawyers to them . Due to increasing corona cases , Advocate Thathai postponed all the cases of Chandigarh State Commission and next date are being given in them and advised Punjab State Commission to do the same .

Justice Dhaliwal described IP Singh as arrogant and that threatening is in his nature . He aslo claimed that these lawyers sit in the premises of the commission and questioned that whether it is against Covid protocol. He said the lawyers who are sitting on the Dharna are lawyers of companies and real estate firms , who owe millions of rupees to the people.

Meanwhile IP Singh said in his defence that its his responsibility to raise the voice of his fellow lawyers and that Justice Dhaliwal is blaming him personally . The orders issued on 11 May were not such order that I alone be against him. More than 80 lawyers who fight the cases are with us – he said.
