In Almora, police have recovered 40.6 kg of ganja from a pickup. The driver escaped from the spot by dodging the police while one was arrested by the police. Police have registered a case against both the smugglers.
SSP Devendra Pincha said that the police team under the leadership of Salt Police Station Head Ajendra Prasad was patrolling late Saturday evening. When a pickup was stopped about two km away from Saraikhet Kathapatiya intersection, the driver got down from the vehicle and fled from the spot, taking advantage of the darkness. The police caught Harish Chandra Negi, a resident of Shrigad Gudlekh, Salt, who was sitting in the seat next to the driver. On searching the vehicle, 40.600 kg of ganja was recovered from it. On interrogating Harish, he told that the absconding person is the owner of the vehicle. His name is Ravindra Singh Rawat alias Ravi.
Police arrested Harish and registered a case against both of them under NDPS Act. While efforts are being made to arrest the absconding accused Ravindra Singh Rawat alias Ravi Rawat, resident of Hansali Saraikhet Salt.
