Big action of Punjab Police: Four Afghan civilians arrested with 17 kg heroin after raiding Delhi

The Punjab Police on Sunday unearthed another major drug smuggling network. During this, the police arrested four Afghan nationals from a manufacturing unit in South Delhi and recovered 17 kg of heroin from them. Its price in the international market is being said to be Rs 90 crore.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Dinkar Gupta said that the Punjab Police has received information about other links connected with this business in Uttar Pradesh and a team has been sent in this regard to break the drug smuggling network. The DGP said that the accused have been identified as Mujahid Shinwari residents of Nangarhar, Muhammad Lal Kakar, Janat Gul Kakar and Samiullah Afghan, all three residents of Kundu, Afghanistan. Apart from the huge seizure of heroin, the police also recovered several chemicals and lab equipment used to make narcotics from the Nab Sarai unit. These drug smugglers were caught on the basis of information by the Hoshiarpur police team led by SSP Navjot Singh Mahal. During this, the DGP said that the Hoshiarpur police had recovered 70 grams of heroin on May 18 by arresting Pushpinder Singh alias Tinku and Amit Choudhary, who had confessed that they had taken the drug from Jasvir Singh Gajju in Jandiala, Amritsar and Sarabjit Singh of Hoshiarpur. Bought it from Sethi.

Raids were conducted at Jasvir Singh’s residence, where his accomplice Jagroop Kaur was nabbed by the police party along with 100 grams of heroin. After conducting a thorough search of the house, the police recovered 1.48 kg of heroin, 500 grams of gold and Rs 49.48 lakh in cash. After this, on July 1, the police also arrested Sarabjit Sethi from Garhshankar and recovered 500 grams of heroin from him.
He further told that Sarabjit had bought heroin from Afghan nationals, who run a heroin factory in Delhi and also about Imtiaz, who smuggled heroin from Uttar Pradesh. Based on this, the Hoshiarpur Police team raided suspicious places in Delhi and busted the manufacturing unit from where heroin was being shipped in large quantities to Punjab and other states. Gupta said that another team has been sent to Uttar Pradesh to trace Imtiaz’s gang.

SSP Navjot Mahal said that the police is investigating to find out other links to the international drug racket and raids are being conducted to nab the rest of the accused. During this, an FIR was registered on July 1 under the section of NDPS Act at Garhshankar police station.
