In Amritsar district of Punjab, a farmer committed suicide after being upset with his family. On the other hand, in Moga district, a married woman set herself on fire. The woman died in the hospital during treatment.
Farmer Maninder Singh committed suicide by swallowing poisonous substance in village Bhaini Gilan of Kambo police station area of Amritsar on Thursday. After getting the information, the police took the body in possession and handed it over to the family members after conducting the post-mortem. In this, on the complaint of the wife of the deceased farmer, a case has been registered against his father-in-law, brother-in-law, Jethani and another relative on charges of abetment to suicide.
Raminderjit Kaur, in her complaint to the police, told that a few years ago she was married to Maninder Singh, the son of Jasbir Singh of Bhaini Gilan village. After marriage, her in-laws often quarreled with her husband over one or the other issue. Her husband used to be very upset with his father Jasbir Singh, younger brother Onkar Singh, elder sister-in-law Rupinder Kaur and another relative Kanwaljit Singh.
The wife of the deceased farmer told the police that on Thursday also there was a fight between her father-in-law and husband over some issue. After which Maninder Singh got angry and drank the medicine that was sprayed on the crops kept in the house. During this, her father-in-law present there did not try to save her husband.
He had swallowed it before she snatched the vial of the poisonous medicine from her husband. Maninder’s condition worsened due to this. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. After registering a case against the four accused on the complaint of Raminderjit Kaur, the police have started raids to arrest them.
