Almora, 07 Feb 2024: A case has been registered against her in-laws for assaulting a married woman from the Dwarahat area of Almora for dowry and instigating her to commit suicide.
A case has been registered against her in-laws for assaulting a married woman from the Dwarahat area of Almora for dowry and instigating her to commit suicide. It is alleged that her husband and other in-laws used to harass her daily for dowry. The husband beat her and the mother-in-law handed her a phenyl bottle and she drank it. Police have registered a case and started an investigation.
Naya Gan Chauhan of Ramnagar, Deepa Bisht, resident of Chilkiya complained to Dwarahat police station. According to her, she got married to Rajendra in the year 2021. Within a week of marriage, the husband started beating her, demanding a dowry. In July 2022, the husband beat her. She went to the railway track to commit suicide. Here some woman explained to him and sent him home. As soon as she reached home, the husband started beating her, and mother-in-law Kamla handed her a phenyl bottle, which she drank.
Father-in-law took him to the hospital. On her complaint, the police in Ramnagar explained to her husband but a compromise could not be reached. He has to live at his maternal home in Kanalgaon, Bagwalipokhar of Dwarahat. Police Station Head Avnish Kumar said that based on the victim’s complaint, a case has been registered against her husband and mother-in-law and an investigation has been started.
