216 crore budget released by the Centre for the mid-day meal scheme in Uttarakhand Schools and they are using it. The State’s Education Department planned the extension of benefit to more schools. They are planning to provide benefit of this scheme to 55 more madrassas and already this scheme is running in many madrassas of Uttarakhand.
Recently in the meeting between the Centre and the officials of the State Education Department, they told the Centre that they have to increase the calorie intake of the students through mid-day meals. The department is planning to use bigger grains in the meals. Whereas the protein in take was up to mark in students of Uttarakhand.
Students around 6.7 lakh are taking benefits of mid-day meals in Uttarakhand.
An audit has been done to take feedback from the various stakeholders regarding mid-day meal scheme which helps in the implementation of the scheme more efficiently.
