Rohit Shetty returns to South after 10 years in search of a hit, ‘Singham Again’ has this South connection

Many things inspired from South films are seen in the trailer of ‘Singham Again’. South films have been very popular in terms of action masala entertainers, so it seems that Rohit has also tried some such things to make ‘Singham Again’ explosive. How? Let us tell you…

The trailer of ‘Singham Again’, which is considered to be one of the biggest movies of this year, was released on Monday. The public has been waiting for this Ajay Devgan starrer film for the last 10 years, ever since ‘Singham’ was released in 2014.

After this, Ajay has played the role of Singham in Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Simmba’ and Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Sooryavanshi’. But in these films of the Cop Universe, Ajay was seen doing only cameos. The story of his character was not moving forward for the last 10 years. Now in the trailer of ‘Singham Again’, the story seems to be moving forward in a big way.

This trailer is full of explosive moments that will get the audience whistling and applauding in the theatres, but one more special thing is visible in Rohit Shetty’s new film. Many things inspired by South films are visible in the trailer of ‘Singham Again’. South films have been very popular in terms of action masala entertainers, so it seems that Rohit has also tried some such things to make ‘Singham Again’ explosive.

Deepika Padukone’s character

Look carefully at Deepika Padukone’s entry in ‘Singham Again’ once again. The stories of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe have so far been set between Mumbai and Goa. But Deepika’s character Shakti Shetty seems to be based in Bengaluru. The name plate on Deepika’s uniform, who is seen playing the role of ‘Lady Singham’ Shakti, has her name written in another language besides English, Kannada.

Tiger Dance

A folk dance called ‘Huli Vesha’ is very popular in the coastal areas of Bengaluru. This dance is performed in honour of Goddess Durga, who rides a tiger. In this dance, devotees dance in the getup of a tiger. This dance is performed the most during Mangalore Dussehra.

In Deepika’s entry scene in the trailer of ‘Singham Again’, you will see people dressed in Tiger’s getup to perform ‘Huli Vesha’. In one scene, you will also see people dancing in this getup. This point further confirms that Deepika’s character is Bangalore based. Deepika had previously worked with Rohit Shetty in the film ‘Chennai Express’ in 2013. In this, Rohit had cast Deepika in the role of a Tamil girl.

Arjun Kapoor’s character design

Arjun Kapoor is playing the villain in ‘Singham Again’. What is the connection of his character, Danger Lanka, will be known only in the film. But the character of Danger Lanka seems to be very inspired by the gangster characters of South films. The goons around him also seem to be from the South. In one scene, Lanka is seen holding a sharp weapon in his mouth.

This weapon and the scene of the hero or villain holding it between their teeth are very common in South Indian films. In ‘Vikram’, the character of Rolex was also seen with this weapon and in ‘KGF Chapter 1’, the character of Rocky kills the villain Garuda with this weapon.

Ajay’s heavy machine gun

In ‘Singham Again’, Ajay Devgan is seen using a heavy machine gun (which looks like M2 Browning). Actually, the recoil of such heavy machine guns is very strong and the person firing it must have a very strong body to handle it. In South, showing the physical strength of the hero through a heavy machine gun is a very popular scene. You must remember Yash’s scene of firing a machine gun in ‘KGF Chapter 2’. In ‘Vikram’, Kamal Haasan was also seen with a heavy machine gun in the climax and Tamil star Karthi’s scene in ‘Kaithi’ is iconic.

South in sound too

What we have told you so far is all worth watching. Now comes the thing to listen, i.e. music. As a director, Rohit Shetty likes to use Desi Indian music a lot in his films. Be it ‘Singham’ or ‘Simmba’, the background score of these films of Rohit leaves a different impression. It is the same in ‘Singham Again’, but the sound seems to have changed a bit. A rich chorus can be heard in it, which is the signature style of Ravi Basrur, whom people remember a lot from ‘KGF’. On checking the details of the trailer, his name was also found written in the credits of music and background score.

The details of the trailer video tell that the song ‘Jai Bajrang Bali’ on which Ranveer Singh is making his entry, has been composed by S. Thaman. Both Thaman and Basrur are two big music directors of South. Both know very well how to make the soundscape of films very grand. Watch the trailer of ‘Singham Again’ here
