Suriya-Bobby Deol’s ‘Kanguva’ will make a big splash in Hindi, makers have made a strong plan, will break Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’ record!

Suriya is one of those stars whose films have been watched a lot on TV before the lockdown and on OTT in Hindi during the lockdown. Opposite him is Bobby Deol, who is eagerly awaited after his blockbuster performance in ‘Animal’. And the makers have finalised the plan to give ‘Kangua’ a big release in Hindi.

South Indian film star Surya and Bollywood star Bobby Deol starrer ‘Kangua’ is one of the most talked about films of this year. Ever since the posters of both the stars and the first look of the film were released, people are very excited about ‘Kangua’. Hindi audiences have many reasons to wait for this pan India film which is going to be released in theatres on 14 November.

Surya is one of those stars whose films have been watched a lot on TV before the lockdown and on OTT during the lockdown in Hindi. Be it ‘Soorarai Pottru’ or ‘Jai Bhim’. Opposite him, Bobby Deol is playing the role of a villain, whom the public is eagerly waiting for after his explosive performance in ‘Animal’

Environment is being created for Kanguva in Hindi as well

The period drama film ‘Kanguva’ is bringing a world and story which has not been seen on screen till now. Moreover, the films of Tamil industry are visually amazing and this thing has been seen in the trailer of ‘Kanguva’ as well. The film has a good chance in Hindi and keeping this in mind, the makers of ‘Kanguva’ are also ready to get it a strong audience in North India. For this, the makers have made such an agreement which Tamil films were not doing for some time.

Tamil Pan India films were weak in Hindi

In today’s era, the discussion about Pan India films is considered to have started with director SS Rajamouli’s 2015 hit ‘Bahubali’, which was a Telugu film. But many years before this film, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s films were doing wonders in Hindi as well.

Rajinikanth’s 2010 superhit film ‘Robot’ (original – Enthiran) earned a lot in Hindi as well. This film still has a cult following among Hindi audiences. But in the post-Bahubali era, Telugu films dominated in Hindi. In between, films like ‘KGF’ and ‘Kanthara’ from the Kannada industry also did great. But Tamil pan India films lagged behind them. Today, there is only one Tamil film in the top 10 list of highest earning South films in Hindi, Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’. See the list:

  1. Bahubali 2- 511 crores
  2. KGF Chapter 2- 435 crores
  3. Kalki 2898 AD- 293 crores
  4. RRR- 273 crores
  5. 2.0- 190 crores
  6. Salaar- 152 crores
  7. Adipurush- 148 crores
  8. Saaho- 145 crores
  9. Bahubali- 118 crores
  10. Pushpa- 106 crores

Theatres vs OTT conflict

Some films of the Tamil industry have done great business in the recent past, but despite being released in Hindi versions, they did not get a very good release in North India. These films were not released especially in multiplex theatres of North India. The reason was the OTT deal of these films.

To attract the audience to the cinema halls, the national multiplex chains have made a rule that they will release only those films in their theatres which will be released on OTT at least 8 weeks after their release in theatres. But the greed for profits from OTT deals is such that many makers of the Tamil industry did not follow this rule. Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Leo’, ‘GOAT’ and Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ are such films. Rajinikanth’s latest film ‘Vettaiyaan’ was also not released in multiplex theatres in North India for this reason. This affected the Hindi collection of these films. But reports suggest that the makers of ‘Kanguva’ are going to follow the rule of OTT release after 8 weeks. This will definitely cause a little loss to the film in the OTT deal, but the crowd of audience in the theatres can compensate for it well. This will also give the Hindi version of ‘Kanguva’ a release in multiplex theatres in North India and if the film is a success then it could become the biggest earning Tamil film in Hindi.

‘2.0’ record may be broken

After the clash of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ and ‘Singham Again’ on Diwali, no big Hindi film is going to release before December. Meanwhile, ‘Kangua’ which is releasing in November will get a big opportunity and if the content of the film appeals to the public, then it can earn a lot in Hindi.

Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’ is the biggest earning Tamil film in Hindi. Akshay Kumar’s presence in it was a factor that attracted Hindi audience. Similarly, in ‘Kanguva’, this factor is Bobby Deol, who has a huge craze after ‘Animal’. If the clash between Surya and Bobby creates an atmosphere, then the audience yearning for big Hindi films can easily take ‘Kanguva’ to 200 crores.

Reports suggest that recently the team of ‘Kanguva’ has given interviews to some portals of South and in that they have talked about giving a grand release to the Hindi version of the film. It has been told that the makers have kept a big budget for Hindi promotion and there is a plan to release the Hindi version on more than 3000 screens. If the content of the film and the initial reactions of the public are positive, then ‘Kanguva’ will definitely become a big hit in Hindi.
