Four new government clinical schools will be up at an expense of Rs 1500 crore across Punjab, state Medical Education and Research Minister OP Soni said on Wednesday, while establishing the framework stone of the limit mass of Dr BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences at SAS Nagar .
The four clinical schools will be underlying Mohali, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Malerkotla, Soni said, prior to adding that there would be no deficiency of specialists in Punjab very soon, as around 500 extra specialists would pass out each year from these forthcoming government clinical universities.
He said that at present there were around 1400 MBBS seats in clinical universities (both private and legislature) of Punjab, and another 500 seats will be added once the new schools become useful.
“The land had been made accessible for every one of the schools. The clinical school in Mohali is relied upon to be the first to get operational as there is as of now a 300-bed clinic working there and we simply need to expand it. Around 80% of the workforce have effectively been selected for the Mohali clinical school and cycle is on for enlistment of paramedics and other supporting staff,” he said.
