Crows becomes a problem for Kenya

Kenya is preparing to kill 10 lakh Indian crows! Why is Kenya making this ‘deadly plan’?

Kenya: According to the information received, crows of Indian origin have become a cause of trouble in Kenya, due to which many bird species are in danger. Because of which the Kanya government has decided to eliminate these crows.

The Government of Kenya has announced to kill crows of Indian origin in large numbers. The Government of Kenya has prepared an action plan to eliminate 10 lakh crows in the last six months of the year 2024. If we talk about Kenya’s wildlife department, they say that the crow is not a part of their primary ecosystem. The country’s wildlife department has called crows of Indian origin ‘aggressive alien birds’. The department says that these crows have been creating trouble for the public for decades and are killing local birds.

Kenya’s Wildlife Authority also says that these crows are not native to East Africa, but in the last few years their population has increased rapidly in the coastal cities of Mombasa, Malindi, Kilifi and Watamu. In view of the problems arising due to their large numbers, the government has set a target of eliminating 10 lakh crows. The decision was taken at a meeting which included representatives of the hotel industry and practitioners specializing in crow control.

Problem in hotel industry due to crows: The Wildlife Authority said in a statement issued on Saturday that these crows are becoming a major problem for the hotel industry in coastal cities. Because of crows, tourists are not able to sit in the open and enjoy food. In such a situation, people associated with the hotel industry are also very troubled by the crows and are demanding control over them. The Kenya Wildlife Authority said the decision to cull the crows was taken in the public interest.

Who is in danger from crows? : Wildlife Authority said that many birds have become endangered because of crows, they are continuously hunting such birds. Kenyan bird expert Colin Jackson said that these crows destroy the nests of small native birds and eat their eggs and chicks, due to which many bird species are decreasing.Due to lack of native birds, there is a problem in environmental protection. The effect of crows is not only on such birds, but the entire ecosystem is being affected by it.
