Ladakh: A major accident has happened with the soldiers of the Indian Army in the Union Territory of Ladakh. 5 soldiers were martyred due to the tank getting stuck in the Shyok River. Military exercise of the Indian Army’s T-72 tank was going on in the Daulat Beg Oldi area of Ladakh on Friday night. At the same time, two tanks were crossing the Shyok River together. While crossing the river, the water level increased a lot. Somehow one tank got out, but the other tank got stuck inside the Shyok River.
Actually, the process of taking out the tank from inside the water in night practice is called fording. During the tank exercise at night, as soon as the soldiers saw that the second tank was sinking in the water. At the same time, two soldiers ran towards the first tank and tried to save it.
At the same time, the first T-72 tank inside which a JCO and two soldiers were present. They completely drowned in the water. Two more soldiers tried to save them. In this way, 5 soldiers including JCO were martyred in this accident. The place where this accident happened is a very strategic area near the Line of Actual Control.
The bodies of the army personnel has been recovered from the spot. Army officials said that this incident happened 148 km away from Leh. This incident happened around 1 o’clock on Friday night. All the army personnel were riding on T-72 tanks.
Defense Minister expressed grief
Defense Minister Rajnath said, “Deeply saddened by the death of our five brave Indian Army personnel in an unfortunate accident while taking a tank across a river in Ladakh. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The country stands firmly with them in this hour of grief.”
Amit Shah and Om Birla also expressed grief
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, the mind is saddened by the news of the accident during the military exercise in Ladakh. I express my condolences to the families of the brave soldiers who lost their lives in this accident. The whole country is with the families of the brave soldiers. At the same time, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the death of many soldiers in the accident during the military exercise in Ladakh is extremely sad and heartbreaking. The country will always remember the services of those brave soldiers. May God give peace to the departed souls. In this hour of grief, our condolences are with the bereaved families.
Mallikarjun Kharge expressed grief over the martyrdom of 5 soldiers
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday expressed deep grief over the death of five soldiers after their T-72 tank sank due to flash floods in the Shyok river in Ladakh. Kharge posted on the social media platform ‘X’, “Deeply saddened by the death of five brave soldiers of the Indian Army, including a JCO (Junior Commissioned Officer) while crossing the river with a T-72 tank in Ladakh.” He said, “We express our condolences to the families of the army personnel who lost their lives due to this painful tragedy. The country salutes the exemplary service of its brave soldiers in unison in this hour of grief.
