A woman was kept hostage for 16 years in Bhopal, a horrifying story of being tortured by her in-laws

Bhopal: A shocking case has come to light from Madhya Pradesh’s capital Bhopal. Where a married woman was held hostage by her in-laws for 16 years. The woman was rescued after a complaint was lodged on Saturday. The woman has been admitted to the hospital due to her extremely bad condition.

Mahila Thana in-charge Shilpa Kaurav told that an application was given in Mahila Thana by Kishan Lal Sahu resident of district Narsinghpur. In which it was said that his daughter Ranu Sahu was married in 2006. Since the year 2008, he was not allowed to meet his daughter by her in-laws. His daughter’s son and daughter have also been sent away from her.

Neighbors have reported that his daughter’s condition has deteriorated after being tortured by her in-laws. In such a situation, daughter Ranu should be rescued and strict action should be taken against the accused after getting her treatment. As soon as the application was received, senior officials were informed about the matter. Under their guidance, the victim Ranu was rescued.

When the police saw Ranu, everyone was stunned to see her condition. Ranu, who has been in captivity for 16 years, has become thin. The skin had stuck to the bones. Ranu was not in a position to speak and her condition looked very serious. Therefore, she has been sent to the hospital along with her family for treatment.

Mahila Thana in-charge Shilpa Kaurav said that considering the seriousness of the case, an investigation team was formed. The NGO, the victim’s family, Mahila Thana and Jahangirabad Thana reached the spot and rescued the woman. The woman was not in a position to speak, her condition remains critical. She has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
This case not only highlights a serious crime but also raises questions about the need for safety of women in society.
