New Delhi – India indeed won the Kargil war, but many young soldiers sacrificed their lives. Among the martyrs, many were from the Ahir community. So now the Ahir community demands the creation of the Ahir regiment in the Indian Army. So in recognition of the sacrifices made by the Ahir soldiers, there has been a growing demand from the Ahir community for the creation of a separate Ahir regiment within the Indian Army. On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, many argue that this regiment would honor the bravery and contributions of the Ahir soldiers who fought in the Kargil War and other conflicts.
The proposal for an Ahir regiment is not just about honoring the past, it also seeks to provide a dedicated space for Ahir youth to serve their country. Many within the community feel that such a regiment would foster greater representation and acknowledgment of their contributions to India’s defense forces.
