Jammu-Kashmir: The Indian Army has achieved a major success on Sunday (July 14). Terrorists tried to infiltrate the Keran sector near the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. The army foiled the infiltration attempt in Kupwara of Keran sector. Military sources say that during this time the army killed three terrorists. It has been told by the army that this operation is still going on. Also, many weapons and ammunition have been recovered from the terrorists.
The Srinagar-based Army’s Chinar Corps wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ that three terrorists have been killed in an attempt to infiltrate the Line of Control in the Keran sector. Along with this, weapons and other war materials have also been recovered.
This action has been taken after the operation named ‘Dhanush II’ launched by the security forces to foil the infiltration attempt. In recent months, a series of terrorist attacks have been seen in the Jammu division of Jammu and Kashmir. In the last one month, terrorists targeted four places in Kathua, Doda, Reasi and Udhampur districts, due to which 15 people including 9 pilgrims and six security personnel died, while 46 people were injured.
On June 9, the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet took oath, terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi. After this, the bus fell into a ditch, killing 9 people. Earlier this month, on July 8, five soldiers lost their lives in an ambush by a group of heavily armed terrorists on an army patrol in Badnota area of Kathua.
Security forces are continuously taking action under the anti-terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir. Under this, the army had received information in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir that terrorists were hiding at two places. After this, 6 terrorists were killed in two separate encounters between the army and the terrorists. Two soldiers were also martyred in this encounter.
Security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir are grappling with the hidden threat of protection and consolidation strategy adopted by infiltrating terrorists. This threat seems evident in the recent ambushes and encounters in North Kashmir and Kathua district. Analyzing the ambushes and encounters with terrorists, officials with knowledge of the matter have said that security agencies are on ‘high alert’, but lack of ground-level ‘human intelligence’ is hampering operations against such terrorists.
