Arvind Kejriwal Sent To 14-Day Judicial Custody Of CBI

Arvind Kejriwal’s troubles increased, court sent him to 14 days judicial custody in Delhi liquor policy case

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s troubles do not seem to be decreasing. Arvind Kejriwal, who is lodged in Tihar Jail in the Delhi liquor policy case, has been sent to 14-day judicial custody by the CBI Special Court.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had demanded 14 days of judicial custody of the Delhi CM after his 3-day CBI custody ended. The Special CBI Court of Rouse Avenue sent Arvind Kejriwal to Tihar Jail for judicial custody till July 12.

CM Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on June 26. After presenting him in the court, he was sent to three-day CBI custody. At the time when the CBI arrested Kejriwal, he was in custody in the money laundering case related to the Delhi Excise Policy being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

After the hearing in the court, Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyer Rishikesh Kumar said, “Arvind Kejriwal’s custody was ending. The CBI presented him in the court and did not demand further custody but demanded to send him to judicial custody, which we opposed. We told the court, “CBI has no ground to send him to judicial custody further. The court has sent Arvind Kejriwal to 14 days judicial remand after hearing our and CBI’s arguments.”
Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyer Rishikesh Kumar said that Arvind Kejriwal’s bail application will be given to the court on Monday or Tuesday. Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyer has demanded in the court that the exemption given to Kejriwal on medical grounds when he was sent to judicial custody after his arrest in the ED case should be continued.

Let us tell you that two cases are registered against Kejriwal. The first is of ED, in which a case of money laundering has been registered against him. ED arrested Kejriwal on March 21. The second is of CBI, which was registered regarding corruption in the liquor policy. Kejriwal was arrested again in this case on June 26.
This case was registered on the complaint of Delhi LG VK Saxena. Both the cases have been registered separately, hence the arrests have also been made separately in them. Kejriwal’s judicial custody in the ED case is ending on July 3.
