Before leaving for Italy, PM Modi told which issues would be Discussed

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Italy to attend the 50th G-7 summit. Here, he will participate in the meeting of the G-7 group of the world’s seven largest economies. India has been invited to this summit as an outreach country. Seven member countries—America, Britain, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and France—as well as the European Union—will participate in this summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will stay here till June 15. During this time, many important issues are going to be discussed.

This is Narendra Modi’s first foreign visit after becoming Prime Minister for the third time. Before leaving for Italy, PM Modi said, “At the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, I am leaving on a visit to the Apulia region of Italy to attend the G-7 Outreach Summit on June 14.” The PM said, “I am happy that my first visit in the third consecutive term is to Italy for the G-7 Summit. I warmly recall my visit to Italy for the G-20 Summit in 2021.

“PM Modi said, “Prime Minister Meloni’s two visits to India last year were instrumental in adding momentum and depth to our bilateral agenda. We are committed to strengthening the India-Italy strategic partnership and enhancing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and Mediterranean regions. The discussions in the outreach session will focus on artificial intelligence, energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean. It will be an opportunity to bring greater synergy between the outcomes of the G20 Summit being chaired by India and the upcoming G7 Summit and to deliberate on issues that are important for the Global South. I also look forward to meeting other leaders participating in the summit.

“The G-7 includes the US, UK, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, and Japan. Italy is currently chairing it. The countries included in the G-7 currently represent about 45% of the global GDP and more than 10% of the world’s population. The G-7 was previously known as the G-8; earlier, it also included Russia. However, Russia’s membership ended after Russia’s occupation of Crimea.
