To protect children from deadly disease like pneumonia, free doses of pneumococcal vaccine have been started in Chandigarh government hospitals on Friday. In the presence of Dr. Amandeep Kang, Director Health and Dr. VK Nagpal, Medical Superintendent of GMSH 16, the campaign was started by feeding one and a half month old Aarav and Shilpa of Sector 11 at the vaccination center of the hospital. Dr. Kang informed that pneumococcal vaccine has been included in the routine vaccination campaign. Now the facility of getting it installed free of cost is available at all health centers including PGI, GMCH 32, GMSH 16, Manimajra, Sector 45 and Civil Hospital 22. Where it will be applied daily in hospitals, its dose will be given on Wednesday and Saturday at health centers. This has been started in view of the possibility of danger to children in the third wave of Corona. Because only the lungs are affected the most in corona infection. In such a situation, children will get the ability to fight infection with the dose of this vaccine.
