Nine Kovid-19 patients died in a fire at a hospital in a mall in Mumbai. At the same time, 70 other patients were evacuated safely. A police official said the fire broke out at the Dreams Mall Sunrise Hospital in Bhandup area shortly after midnight. The hospital is located on the third floor of a five-storey mall. Apart from Kovid-19 patients, many other patients were in the hospital at the time of the accident.
The police officer said nine patients died in the incident. Sources in the control room said that the cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained. It is believed that a fire broke out due to the explosion of oxygen cylinder. 20 fire engines and 15 water tankers caught fire. They said firefighters took the patients out and shifted them to another hospital. DCP Prashant Kadam said that two people died in the incident. The fire was on the first floor of the mall. There were 76 corona patients admitted to the hospital. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar reached the spot and expressed surprise that there was a hospital inside the mall. He said that for the first time I saw a hospital inside a mall. Action will be taken if any irregularity is found in running the hospital here.
