Uttarkashi: Although monsoon communicates happiness but it is a curse for the mountains. With the arrival of monsoon, a disaster-like situation has been created in Uttarkashi district.

Loss of Rs 12 crore by heavy rains in Uttarkashi
In the first and second week of July itself, there has been a loss of more than Rs 12 crore in the border district of Uttarkashi. Still the losses are continuing. Along with this, the damaged roads, drinking water lines, power lines and irrigation canals have not been repaired yet. Talking about the most basic facility “roads”, the roads have suffered the most here. Due to this, more than 20 contact routes are still blocked in Uttarkashi, due to which the contact of more than 40 villages has been cut off. The most affected are the villages of Mori and Purola blocks.

What is the damage so far in Uttarkashi?
Damage to drinking water schemes has caused a loss of 72 lakhs. The estimated amount to be spent on their repair is said to be Rs 1.30 crore. On the other hand, if we talk about the roads, a total of 45 roads have been damaged, including the state road, district road and link road. At the same time, the amount to be spent in making the traffic smooth has been said to be around 1.75 crores. The damaged electric pole has caused a loss of 95 lakhs and the estimated amount to be spent for its repair is 71 lakhs. On the other hand, due to the damaged canals, there has been a loss of 95 lakhs and the estimated amount to be spent on their repair is said to be 3.55 crores. At the same time, 7 lakh casualties and 15 lakh are engaged in the treatment of serious injured. The relief amount payable to the relatives of the deceased and the injured is Rs 28 lakh and animal loss is being reported as Rs 15 lakh by the administration to the affected cattle herders. 52 lakh will be given. In view of the troubles in the district, District Magistrate Abhishek Ruhela held a meeting of the officers and ordered them to take action. Along with this, he has also given instructions to assess the loss of personal assets like buildings and farms and provide relief to the affected.(HB)
