Jammu-Kashmir: Four security personnel, including an army officer, were martyred and one soldier is seriously injured in an encounter with terrorists in the forests of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation in the northern area of Doda on Monday evening. The terrorists were encountered around 9 pm, after which there was heavy firing. The search operation for terrorists is still going on.
Officials said that the encounter started when the soldiers of the National Rifles and the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint cordon and search operation at Dhari Gote Urarbagi in the forests of Desa at around 7.45 pm.
Officials said that four army personnel including an officer and a policeman were injured in the firing that lasted for more than 20 minutes. Officials said that the injured were taken to the hospital. Four of the soldiers have been martyred. The army said that additional troops have been sent to the area and the operation was going on till the last information came. According to officials, the operation was launched following information about the presence of militants in the area. A police spokesperson confirmed the encounter but said further details were awaited. “Additional troops have been sent to the area, the operation is underway,” the Army’s 16th Corps, also known as the White Knight Corps, said in a post on social media platform X.

An attempt was made to weaken the government’s campaign to end terrorism.’ DGP Swain also mentioned Jamaat-e-Islami in his statement and said that such organizations support terrorists on religious grounds.

Increase in terrorist attacks
The number of terrorist attacks has increased in Jammu and Kashmir in recent times. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath on June 9, the same day terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi. Nine people died when the bus fell into a ditch. Four attacks have been carried out by terrorists between 9 and 11 June.
Five soldiers martyred in Kathua
After this, in the beginning of July, on 8 July, a group of heavily armed terrorists ambushed an army patrol in Badnota area of Kathua. Five soldiers were martyred in the attack.
