New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut is once again embroiled in controversies. BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has recently created a ruckus through a social media post about Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Kangana, who had faced criticism for her statement on the farmers’ protest some time ago, while paying tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 120th birth anniversary, posted a post which is considered to be undermining the stature of Mahatma Gandhi. Kangana is again facing sharp criticism after this comment.
Kangana Ranaut made a controversial comment on her ‘Instagram Story’, in which she wrote, “There are not fathers of the country, but sons of the country. Blessed are these sons of India.” Along with this, in another post, she credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for carrying forward Gandhiji’s legacy of cleanliness. Kangana Ranaut, BJP MP from Mandi constituency of Himachal Pradesh, has created a new controversy for herself with these posts. Congress leader Supriya Shrinet has accused Kangana of making “vulgar sarcasm” for this comment. This comment is once again bringing Kangana to the center of controversies.
Congress leader Supriya Shrinet has strongly condemned Kangana Ranaut’s controversial comment on Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on ‘X’. She wrote, “BJP MP Kangana made this vulgar sarcasm on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. Godse worshippers differentiate between Bapu and Shastri ji. Will Narendra Modi fully forgive his party’s new Godse devotee?”
Shrinet further said, “There are fathers of the nation, sons and martyrs. Everyone deserves respect.” It is noteworthy that in March, Shrinet herself was embroiled in controversies before the Lok Sabha elections over an objectionable post by Kangana.
Senior Punjab BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia has criticised Kangana Ranaut’s recent remarks. “I condemn Kangana Ranaut’s comments on Gandhiji’s 155th birth anniversary. In her short political career, she has got into the habit of making controversial statements,” he said in a social media video.
Kalia further said, “Politics is not her field. Politics is a serious matter. One should think before speaking. Her controversial remarks cause trouble for the party.” The remarks could further fuel the internal rift in the BJP.
Last month, Kangana Ranaut faced criticism for advocating the withdrawal of the three farm laws that were repealed in 2021. Kangana, who was elected as an MP in June, alleged that the farmers’ agitation was creating a “Bangladesh-like situation in India”. She said “corpses were hanging and rapes were taking place” at protest sites.
However, Kangana later retracted her statement, admitting that she should remember that she is not just an artiste but also a member of the BJP.
