Death toll in Assam floods rises to 52, 21 lakh people affected in 29 districts, Kaziranga wildlife in crisis

Assam: It is raining heavily across the country these days. Due to heavy rains in many states for the last few days, the flood situation remains serious. Dozens of people have died in floods and landslides in Manipur and Assam. A large number of people are still reported missing. Thousands of people have been taken to relief camps. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, both the states are going to receive heavy rains in the coming days. IMD has issued an alert for the coming days as heavy rains are continuing in Assam and Manipur.

Floods in Manipur and Assam have also caused great harm to animals. Houses have been damaged due to floods. According to officials, the total number of deaths in flood-related incidents in both the states rose to 52 on Wednesday. Of these, 46 deaths have occurred in Assam. 21 lakh people have been affected. The overall flood situation in Assam is still serious. More than 16.25 lakh people in 29 districts have been affected by the second wave. Meanwhile, more than 2000 people have been evacuated from heavily flooded areas in Manipur.

According to a report, more than 11.5 lakh people in 28 districts of Assam are affected by floods. On the other hand, schools and colleges have been closed in Manipur. At the same time, about five people have died in Nagaland due to rain-related incidents in the last few days. According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain with lightning and thunder may occur in the north-west and central parts of the country during the next four days.

Kaziranga National Park hit by floods, 31 animals died: A total of 31 animals have drowned so far in the famous Kaziranga National Park due to one of the worst floods in recent years, while 82 others have been rescued from the floodwaters. The animal deaths include 23 hog deer due to drowning in the park and 15 during treatment. Forest officials rescued 73 hog deer, two otters, two sambar deer, a scops owl, a rhinoceros calf, an Indian hare and a wild cat. The official said that currently 20 animals are undergoing treatment, while 31 others have been released after treatment.
