New Variant of Covid-19 ‘Delta Plus’ is Fatal and Extremely Contagious

The new variant of Covid-19 ‘Delta Plus’ is highly contagious and its spread is possible even if a person is walking next to infected person without mask says AIIMS director Randeep Guleria.

On Tuesday, AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria told a media house in an interaction that the new variant of Covid-19 Delta Plus is highly contagious and it will spread even when a person without mask is walking next to an infected person and because of all this infection will spread rapidly.

Coronavirus fitting conduct will serve by and large against the new variation, the public authority is worried about the invulnerable getaway instrument of the Delta Plus variation and its protection from monoclonal antibodies said Mr. Guleria.

Mr. Guleria further added that,”This is being studied by INSACOG, a network of labs undertaking genomic sequencing in India and we will know if vaccines are effective against this variant or not.”

Although, the AIIMS director said that currently in India the Delta Plus variant infection is very less and Indian citizens need to takecare and aware of it.

On Tuesday, the government of India gave information that there are 22 cases of Delta Plus variant is recognized in India. Ratnagiri and Jalgoan districts of Maharashtra; Palakkad and Pathanamthitta districts of Kerala; and Bhopal and Shivpuri districts of Madhya Pradesh have cases of Delta Plus variant of Covid-19. Also government said that a consulting team has been sent to all these states with Delta Plus variant cases and in all over world Delta Plus variant cases is found in nine countries.

It might be possible that country will again come across lockdown if cases will rise and ‘the country is likely to again follow a hammer and dance strategy’ and ‘It will be a containment measure’, said Dr. Randeep Guleria.

Dr. Randeep Guleria even said that the next 6-8 weeks are very crucial and Given the rise of new variations including Delta Plus, both Covaxin and Covishield are lessening hospitalisations even on account of Delta variation, which is the prevailing variation in the country.
