Now Andhra Pradesh will have only one capital: Chandrababu Naidu

Andhra Pradesh: Since assuming power, Chandrababu Naidu has reversed former Chief Minister Jagan Reddy’s decision. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that Amaravati will henceforth serve as Andhra Pradesh’s capital.

A disagreement over the capital arose following Telangana’s separation from Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh used to have three capitals, but Chandrababu Naidu of the Telugu Desam Party has decided that there will be only one. Let us inform you that Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP chief, has won a majority in Andhra Pradesh’s assembly elections. In this situation, he will take the oath as Chief Minister on Wednesday. Telugu Desam Party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu stated on Tuesday, a day before his inauguration, that Amaravati would be the state’s sole capital.

Naidu made this declaration while addressing a joint meeting of TDP, BJP, and Jansena MLAs. During this conference, he was unanimously elected as the leader of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly’s National Democratic Alliance. According to Naidu, “There will be no game in the name of three capitals in our government. Our capital is Amaravati. Amaravati is the capital.”

In fact, between 2019 and 2024, the Chief Minister of divided Andhra Pradesh proposed Amaravati as its capital, but in 2019, the government changed in Andhra Pradesh, and the TDP’s plan was abandoned. When Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government was formed in the state, he proposed a new principle of three capitals. In which he resolved to designate Amaravati the legislative, Kurnool the judicial, and Visakhapatnam the administrative capitals. There were also legal issues to consider.

Following it, the state’s leadership changed, and Chandra Babu Naidu made the choice with one capital. For your knowledge, along with the recent Lok Sabha elections, elections were held in Andhra Pradesh. The NDA alliance of TDP, BJP, and Jansena scored a landslide victory in the state, with 164 assembly seats and 21 Lok Sabha seats. This win has given new life to the Amaravati capital city project.
