Kailash Kher: Padma Shri Kailash Kher received the New York State Assembly honor, started ‘Bharatotsav’ tour in America

Padma Shri Kailash Kher is known for taking India’s rich culture and heritage to every corner of the world. Now he recently started the highly successful Bharatotsav 2024 USA Tour along with his band Kailasa. This tour has not only mesmerized the audiences of the United States but also highlighted the spiritual, folk and cultural depth of Indian music on a global platform.

The Bharatotsav tour kicked off with a grand special event of Ganesh Utsav in Seattle, where Kailash Kher’s stellar performance kicked off a culturally immersive experience. The tour continued in Chicago, where he and Kailasa brought India’s folk music, art and handicrafts to a wide and engaged audience at the Swadeshi Kala Mela. As cultural ambassadors of India, they reinforced the importance of India’s artistic heritage.

The tour then moved on to a colourful Navratri celebration in New Jersey, where the audience was enthralled by the devotional and energetic performances. The pre-Diwali concert in Boston was particularly significant, coinciding with the Prime Minister’s announcement of a new Indian Consulate in Boston. The event symbolised the growing ties between India and the city, making it an important venue for promoting Indian culture.

The iconic Palace Theatre in Stamford, Connecticut hosted yet another memorable concert attended by a large number of expatriates and second and third generation Indians who study and reside in this university city. The event was a special cultural bridge for the younger generation, giving them a chance to reconnect with the roots of their heritage through the power of music.

Finally, the New York concert organised by the Indo-American Arts Council at Manhattan’s prestigious International House was the highlight of the tour. Organised in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in New York, the event showcased a celebration of Indian culture in one of the world’s greatest cities.

For his efforts in promoting arts and bringing India’s heritage to the world, Padma Shri Kailash Kher was honoured with a prestigious proclamation by the New York State Assembly recognizing him as an Honorable Citizen of New York. The award was personally signed and presented by Assemblyman David Ira Weprin at a special ceremony during the tour. Bharatotsav 2024 USA Tour has been a spectacular journey of cultural celebration, impressing Indian and global audiences alike and Kailash Kher played a vital role as the global ambassador of Indian folk and spiritual music.
