To thwart the nefarious designs of enemies on the borders of the country, emphasis has now been laid on developing a ‘Combined Security Force Culture’. In this regard, a joint meeting was organized for better coordination between the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF). Border security and challenges were discussed for several hours in the meeting held at the Army Headquarters Western Command in Chandigarh .The coordination meeting was presided over by Major General Devendra Sharma MGGS (Operations) Western Command. IG NS Jamwal of BSF Jammu Frontier and IG BSF Punjab Frontier IPS Sonali Mishra participated in it. The meeting deliberated on further enhancing the operational efficiency between the Indian Army and BSF. The challenges of border management including the issues of training and equipment profile of the BSF were known. The officers also shared experiences and suggestions with each other, so that security could be done better. Major General Devendra Sharma highlighted the importance of developing a joint security force culture to give a befitting reply to the enemy. It was informed that during the wars of 1965, 1971 and Operation Parakram, the Indian Army and BSF have worked together towards the defense of the national borders. The same spirit of jointness and cooperation continues today and will continue to be so.
