Rahul Gandhi will appear before the Bengaluru court today

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, has left for Bangalore. He will appear before a special court here today in a slander lawsuit. The Karnataka unit of the BJP accused the Congress of running fraudulent advertisements in prominent newspapers. In the defamation lawsuit brought by the Karnataka BJP, the judge ordered him to appear before June 7. Rahul Gandhi is the fourth accused in the BJP’s defamation action against Congress leaders. Other accused in this case include the Congress party, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar.

This entire situation occurs during the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections. It refers to advertising that appeared in major Karnataka newspapers during the assembly elections. In this advertisement, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi leveled severe allegations of corruption against the then-BJP administration. The Karnataka BJP objected and launched a defamation complaint in court. In this matter, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar were granted bail on June 1.

Rahul Gandhi is now scheduled to appear in court today at 10:30 a.m. on this topic. On June 1, the Karnataka BJP urged the issuing of a non-bailable warrant against Rahul Gandhi, while Congress party leaders claimed that Rahul Gandhi had nothing to do with the party’s advertisement campaign in Karnataka. The court had granted Rahul Gandhi an exemption from appearing on June 1. It also stated that he will have to appear in court on June 7, at any cost.
