West Bengal: In the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections, the crowd suddenly got angry in Kultali of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. The angry crowd entered the polling station and picked up an EVM and threw it in a nearby pond, which stopped the voting process. This happened when some voters were stopped from entering the polling booth.Seeing this boycott, the local people got angry and forcibly entered the polling stations. They forcibly took away the EVM equipped with Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail and threw it in the pond. Its video is going viral on social media.
At the same time, there was also news of tension increasing in Satulia area of Bhangar in Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency. Violence increased here this morning after allegations of attack on Indian Secular Front (ISF) and CPI (M) workers. According to the information, many people of ISF have been injured in this violence. It is being told that the situation worsened due to the discovery of country-made bombs in the area.
Chief Electoral Officer (West Bengal) while giving information on X said that today at 6.40 am, the officer’s reserve EVMs and documents were looted near Benimadavpur FP School in 129-Kultali AC of 19-Jaynagar (SC) PC. 1 CU, 1 BU, 2 VVPAT machines were thrown into the pond. He informed that FIR was lodged by the officer and action has been started. At the same time, voting is being done without any hindrance in all the remaining six booths and new papers and EVMs are being provided to the sector officer.
Voting continues on 9 seats in Bengal
In the seventh phase of the election, polling is being done on 9 seats of Bengal under tight security. These 9 seats include Basirhat, Jayanagar, Diamond Harbor, Jadavpur, Dumdum, Barasat, Kolkata South and Kolkata North seats.
